During the evolution of the modern real estate brokerage enterprise a traditional model emerged and was adopted by the industry as its market model. It's a fascinating story marked by several fundamental realities that made it very successful. Now, however, it is faced with new challenges created by an entirely new set of technology innovation that have re-ordered the operating model.
The strategies for traditional brokerage operation were extremely sound and worked well in the non-technology era where real estate was marketed locally through a controlled Multiple Listing Service (MLS) which the brokers controlled and the local print media where properties were advertised in order to placate sellers and attract buyers who found their way into the market. e-Partner refers to these market niches as a "Market Area" (MA).
The traditional brokerage market model was designed around three basic economic scripts with an accompanying Market Area (MA) operating model. In the new emerging real estate economy, the scripts and their assumptions are now under fire.

Rather, it is a recognition and re-ordering of the brokerage operating model in order to facilitate consumer needs, reduce operating overhead that is threatening our ability to survive and begin the process of reinventing our business so that it operates in the dynamic macro-markets of tomorrow.
